Company History

Shang Dao was founded in Chiayi in 1979. From the rise of coffee culture in Taiwan to the emergence of bubble tea, the company has witnessed the evolution of Taiwan’s beverage industry firsthand. Starting as a wholesale business, Shang Dao has since expanded its operations and established production and logistics facilities in Chiayi, Guangzhou, New Taipei City, and Yilan.
In 1993, Shang Dao Taipei was established, launching the company’s expansion into China, Hong Kong, and Macau. We became the first manufacturer to develop the coffee and bubble tea market in China., the company continued its international growth with the establishment of Shang Tong International Marketing Co., Ltd. With customer service at the heart of its operations, Shang Tong expanded into markets across North America, Central America, Australia, and Europe. Today, ingredients and formulations developed and produced by the company are used by more than 100 brands worldwide.

Around 2000, KILIBAY, the brand’s headquarters in Taiwan, began taking shape in the Lize Industrial Zone of Su’ao. Once designated as the proposed site for the Sixth Naphtha Cracker project, the area later became known for its stringent environmental requirements for industrial development. Surrounded by wetlands, the coastline, the Dongshan River, and Wulaokeng, KILIBAY grew within a landscape of remarkable natural beauty, often described as “Northern Kenting.”

Brand Story

A group of people, united by passion, dedication, and a strong commitment to service, set out to create a place where people could relax, connect, and enjoy life. After searching far and wide, they eventually discovered this beautiful bay and exclaimed, “What a magical and beautiful place — a hidden paradise in eastern Taiwan!” And so, KILIBAY began.
They decided to put down roots and grow in Su’ao, a beautiful destination often described as Taipei’s backyard. Surrounded by wetlands, a pristine coastline, and ever-changing skies, the area retains much of its natural beauty and charm. Inspired by the local environment, the team set out to support the community, promote local culture, and create meaningful experiences for visitors. With the right place, the right timing, and the right people coming together, the idea of the KILIBAY Food & Culture Center was born. KILIBAY exists because of the magic and beauty of this place — and it is a destination worth experiencing for yourself.

Brand Design

The brand design is centered on the concept of food, culture, and leisure. The logo features a flowing leaf motif and stem, with its three-part design representing fun, discovery, and good food. It reflects KILIBAY focus on creative cuisine made with local ingredients. The playful KILIBAY typography combines traditional and contemporary elements, while the overall visual identity incorporates ideas of sustainability, energy conservation, carbon reduction, and green living. Through both the visitor experience and our approach to production, we hope to contribute to a more sustainable future while creating meaningful and memorable experiences for our guests.
The overall design is clean, flowing, and minimalist, combining a professional brand image with a contemporary sense of style. It is intended not only to enhance the image and development of the local community, but also to build a strong and memorable identity for KILIBAY. Looking ahead, we hope to share KILIBAY with audiences around the world, promote its unique story internationally, and welcome visitors from near and far to experience it for themselves.
